Fitzgerald’s seventh-inning single ends the Diamondbacks’ attempt to pull off a no-hitter against the Giants

SAN FRANCISCO – Tyler Fitzgerald hit a single against reliever Kevin Ginkel in the seventh inning, ending the Arizona Diamondbacks’ attempt at a no-hitter on Wednesday night.

Fitzgerald, one of San Francisco’s best hitters this season, hit a single on an 0-1 pitch from Ginkel, who relieved Zac Gallen after the starter had thrown 100 pitches in six innings. LaMonte Wade Jr. followed Fitzgerald’s hit with a two-run homer.

Gallen threw 63 strikes, had eight strikeouts and four walks.
