Two Americans have made it to the semifinals at the US Open.

Jessica Pegula, seeded No. 6, and Emma Navarro, seeded No. 13, will face each other in separate women’s singles matches on Thursday.

India's Preeti Pal celebrates winning a bronze medal in the Women's 100m - T35 final during the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games on August 30. Two days later, she won a second bronze medal in the 200m final - and became an instant hero in her home country.

Pegula – a native of Buffalo, New York – will play unseeded Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic after defeating No. 1 seed Iga Swiatek 6-2, 6-4 on Wednesday. She has beaten Swiatek, who won the 2022 US Open, four times.

Emma Navarro of New York City will play No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka after defeating Paula Badosa 6-2, 7-5 on Tuesday.

The winners of Thursday’s two semi-finals qualify for the women’s final on Saturday.
