Chandler Police mourn death of retired patrol dog Bako

CHANDLER, AZ (AZFamily) – The Chandler Police Department is saddened to say goodbye to one of its own retired police dogs.

Police said K-9 Bako died on Tuesday, but did not provide any information about how he died.

He worked for the department for ten years, serving as a patrol dog and also as a bomb-sniffing dog.

Bako helped protect the lives of his superiors, retired Sergeant Mike Armentrout and retired police officer Ron Emary.

Police said the dog “served the community of Chandler with unwavering loyalty and bravery.”

“His courage, dedication and camaraderie will never be forgotten,” the department said.
