According to the statement, 22-year-old Utsab made the comment on September 4, which angered locals.

He was later arrested by locals and handed over to the Khulna Deputy Commissioner’s office for legal action.

But shortly afterwards, about 3,000 to 3,500 locals arrived at the scene and demanded that Utsab be publicly punished for his comments.

Some of the angry people entered the commissioner’s office and attacked the youths.

He was later rescued by army personnel.

Several media outlets reported last night that Utsab was killed in the attack on the deputy commissioner’s office.
