48-year-old woman killed in hit-and-run in Birmingham – now identified

Authorities have released the name of a woman killed in a hit-and-run crash in west Birmingham nearly a week ago.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as April Rosella Barton. She was 48 and lived in Birmingham.

Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the woman was crossing the street at the corner of Princeton Avenue SW and Lomb Avenue SW on Friday, August 30, when she was struck at 10:30 p.m.

At 10:58 p.m. her death was pronounced at the scene of the accident.

The driver who hit her left the scene of the accident.

Birmingham police are investigating.
