Motorcyclist fatally injured in accident near Citadel Mall identified

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KKTV) – A motorcyclist died in a collision with a truck near the Citadel Mall Tuesday morning.

The victim was identified as 35-year-old Michael Pinegar.

Shortly after 8 a.m., police were called to the Platte and Chelton area:

Officials said Thursday they believe that due to the heavy traffic in the area, the driver did not notice that the pickup truck was turning left or that other cars were slowing down and therefore could not stop in time to avoid an accident.

The driver was taken to the hospital where he later died. The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured.

CSPD said no reports had been filed in connection with the fatal accident as of Thursday.
