The Daily: Laine’s landing spots examined; Wings High on Crusher

Speculation about where Patrik Laine might land will likely be more entertaining than the trade that takes the forward from Columbus to another team.

The Score’s five potential destinations are Pittsburgh, Colorado, Vegas, Seattle and Buffalo. Josh Wegman, author of The Score, lists the Penguins as Laine’s most likely destination, with Colorado as No. 2. Vegas and Buffalo are listed as the furthest away destinations.

It does not appear that an agreement is imminent.

“There’s no guarantee Laine will transfer,” Wegman wrote. “After all, between injuries and his January entry, he’s played just 18 games in 2023-24, and he’s recorded just nine points. He’s also missed 53 games due to injuries over the previous two seasons. His $8.7 million salary cap hit — over the next two campaigns — is a significant amount for teams to absorb, especially at this point in the offseason.”
