A horrific video from the temple town of Madhya Pradesh shows a man allegedly raping a woman scrap collector after forcing her to drink alcohol in Agar Naka area of ​​Ujjain. The incident came to light after a video of the rape went viral on social media, Om Prakash Mishra, superintendent of police of Kotwali town, said. The accused has been arrested.

The crime occurred on Wednesday when the man, who had promised to marry the woman, forced her to drink alcohol and then raped her. He also threatened her not to talk about the sexual assault and fled the scene.

“The accused Lokesh promised to marry her, forced her to drink alcohol and then raped her on Wednesday. Some passersby filmed the incident instead of stopping the crime. Lokesh later fled the scene. After the woman filed a complaint when the effect of alcohol wore off, Lokesh was arrested,” SP Om Prakash Mishra was quoted as saying by News agency PTI.

“When law and order end”: Congress

Soon after the video of the horrific incident went viral on the internet, Congress MP Jitu Patwari attacked the BJP-led state government, claiming that the incident indicates the complete end of law and order in Ujjain.

“Dharamnagari Ujjain has been tarnished once again! This time too, the black mark has been painted on the forehead of law and order in Ujjain. I am shocked that now there are rapes in broad daylight on the streets in Ujjain. This is possible only when the effect of law and order ends completely!” the Congress leader wrote to X.

“If this is the situation in the Chief Minister’s hometown, then one can easily understand the situation in the rest of the state. The atrocities being continuously committed against Dalits and tribal women are also palpable!” he added.
