WeGo bus driver arrested after threatening driver with knife

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A man is facing assault charges after allegedly pulling a knife on the driver of a WeGo bus as it drove through Donelson on Wednesday.

According to an affidavit from the Metro Nashville Police Department, an officer was dispatched to the WeGo bus Wednesday afternoon, which was parked near the intersection of Lebanon Pike and Donelson Pike, after the driver was forced to stop the bus, the affidavit states.

The driver told the officer that a man became angry when she told him to stop cutting his nails on the bus, the report said. She said he grabbed his things, stood up, pulled out a knife and demanded that she stop the bus immediately, the affidavit said.

The man was identified as 28-year-old Reginald Williams. After fleeing the bus on foot, the officer quickly found him behind the nearby Auto Zone, according to the report. The knife was found in his pocket, along with a baggie containing white powder indicative of a narcotic.

Williams was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and drug possession.
