Man dies after crashing his vehicle into a power pole on I-35

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – A man died after his vehicle struck a power pole on a highway, New Braunfels police said.

The accident occurred around 2:10 a.m. Wednesday in the 2500 block of Interstate 35 near Schmidt Avenue.

The man, 22-year-old Joshua Ray Bilbrey, drove his Toyota Camry into a power pole, police said.

Bilbrey, a native of New Braunfels, did not survive his injuries.

The northbound access road to I-35 was briefly closed after the accident.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
